Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) enables the WBG to achieve its mission of ending extreme poverty by 2030 and boosting shared prosperity in a sustainable manner by delivering transformative information and technologies to its staff working in over 130 client countries. ITS services range from: establishing the infrastructure to reach and connect staff and development stakeholders; providing the devices and agile technology and information applications to facilitate the science of delivery through decentralized services; creating and maintaining tools to integrate information across the World Bank Group, the clients we serve and the countries where we operate; and delivering the computing power staff need to analyze development challenges and identify solutions. The ITS business model combines dedicated business solutions centers that provide services tailored to specific World Bank Group business needs and shared services that provide infrastructure, applications and platforms for the entire Group. ITS is one of three VPUs that have been brought together as the World Bank Group Integrated Services (WBGIS), to provide enhanced corporate core services and enable the institution to operate as one strategic and coordinated entity.

The Information & Technology Solutions Operations & Corporate department (ITSOC) is led by a BSC Chief Information Officer at the Director level. ITSOC partners with clients and IT network colleagues to provide transformative development solutions through the management of information and provision of IT enabled business solutions, towards a world free of poverty.
The Knowledge & Information unit (ITSKI) is part of the Operations & Corporate department (ITSOC) within the Information Management & Technology (ITS) vice presidency. The ITSKI unit's primary clients are internal (the Regional Vice-presidencies, the Global Practices) and other corporate and operational units, as well as external clients, partners, and the public who use the Bank's Access to Information systems and archival services.
The Knowledge & Information unit of the Information Technology and Solutions (ITS) vice presidency is seeking an IT Analyst, Information Management Services, Research Librarian, to work in the WBG Library. The incumbent primarily serves internal WBG staff with a wide range of reference and research questions and any training and collaboration that may associated with educating our Library clients.
The incumbent will be part of the WBG Library team within ITSKI which manages the Library services for the WBG. The WBG Library is part of the Library and Archives of Development (LAD) providing information services to the WBG. The services are provided by three units; the World Bank Group (WBG) Library, the World Bank Archives and the Internal Documents Unit (IDU). This position will a part of the Library, in Chennai, India and the Librarian will work with all clients (WBG staff), regardless of their location.
The Librarian will work under the supervision of the Team Lead for Library Research Services in HQ and be a part of the Library's decentralized team with members in Vietnam, India and Kenya.
The World Bank Group Library is also part of the Bank-Fund Library Network, in partnership with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Duties and Accountabilites
- Provide a complete lifecycle of reference and research services, from ready reference to in-depth research.
- Provide Tier 2 reference and research through basic and advanced searches in local and commercial databases and other resources.
- Conduct extensive research on multiple development topics per institutional priorities.
- Work as part of an HQ based team and as a virtual research librarian to staff in other regions; by phone, email, Skype, instant messaging, other virtual tools, and in person.
- Use technology to serve a diverse and decentralized workforce including social networking media (i.e. LinkedIn, Skype…) to deliver service and to interact with clients.
- Work as part of a team with all WBG and Library Network research librarians and experts to provide best response to Library clients.
- Create knowledge products as a collaborative effort.
- Liaise with assigned Practice Groups to ensure delivery of services and knowledge sharing.
- Support marketing and outreach activities---participate and contribute to the development of promotional tools and ideas.
- Assist in the design, development and delivery of training and learning activities.
- Deliver training programs as needed.
- Compile and record research and training statistics.
- Lead a project under supervision of a Library Team Lead.
- Identify and provide ongoing review of staff information needs with the Library Research Team.
- Provide content for Library Network web site and may suggest content for other Practice Group sites.
- Assist in conducting usability testing for web sites or online databases.
- Serve as member of various library and knowledge sharing advisory committees and task for
- Master's Degree in Library Science or equivalent degree supported by a library qualification.
- Typically 6 years in functional position or related work experience in complex global business/market research and international development.
- Fluency in spoken and written English a must.
- Ability to expresses thoughts and ideas effectively in oral and written communications.
- Ability to analyze information and draw accurate conclusions, filter information.
- Ability to work cooperatively and independently.
- Understanding of World Bank business processes supporting investment lending, development policy lending, and knowledge services is a plus.
- Organized, agile, persistent, and proactive.
- Language skills outside of English considered a plus.
- Knowledge of social science databases, financial and economic resources, international development knowledge, Thomson Analytics, Factiva, Bloomberg, credit rating agencies and other relevant business databases is a plus.
