    Overview
    Partnerships are central to delivering the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and are essential for the vision and outcomes in UNDP's Strategic Plan. The relevance of UNDP hinges on its ability to work as a credible, trusted and effective partner.
    Under the overall objective to work with partner countries and help them access and manage development finance for greater development impact, UNDP aims to achieve and sustain a more adequate, stable and predictable level of resources that
    • ensures that corporate priorities are fully implemented;
    • underpins the strategic relevance of UNDP for partner governments; and,
    • enables the organization to respond to emerging needs globally and at the country level in a strategic, innovative and forward looking manner.
    The Bureau of External Relations and Advocacy (BERA) is responsible for UNDP's external relations, advocacy and communications functions. The Bureau leads and supports the organization in cultivating, building and nurturing strategic relationships and alliances that are essential for advancing and successfully achieving the mission of UNDP. This requires new ways of working, partnering, financing with public and private actors at global, regional and national levels. The Strategy and Innovation Unit (SIU), housed in BERA, helps drive UNDP's effort to diversify its partnerships and funding base, with a focus on private sector / corporate partnerships.
    The purpose of this consultancy is to develop a Corporate Fundraising Toolkit. The purpose of the Corporate Fundraising Toolkit is to drive income growth from the corporate sector across UNDP's work worldwide. Income growth will come from countries as they develop and strengthen their corporate fundraising capacity and skills in order to develop new partnerships. The toolkit will be designed to help UNDP country offices plan how they can engage with the corporate sector and maximize resource mobilization in an efficient and effective way.
    The toolkit will have narrative content as well as a workbook. Sections include
    • mapping and prioritizing the market;
    • developing a corporate resource mobilization action plan;
    • technical support on the steps involved in developing partnerships;
    • guidelines on closing a partnership and relationship management for donor retention;
    • internal UNDP corporate guidelines on working with the private sector; and
    • case studies from around the world of UNDP country offices to illustrate with examples.
    The consultant will report to the Director of SIU, and provide regular updates of progress to the weekly team meeting. S/he will work closely with other UNDP staff to ensure the work progresses in alignment with UNDP's corporate strategic priorities for partnerships.
