    Job Summary
    This Research Analyst I primarily supports WRI's Electricity Initiative. Primarily, the work of the Analyst will be on the US electricity sector, particularly supporting the team's efforts to facilitate utility/large-scale energy buyer collaborations in traditional, regulated electricity markets. You will write briefs and short background notes to support meetings, contribute to blogs and WRI knowledge products, research trade publications related to relevant clean energy solutions, engage with utilities, energy buyers, regulators, and other stakeholders, and support staff senior team members as they expand WRI's work to create and scale clean energy solutions.
    As a successful candidate, you must write succinctly and with impact for an audience, prioritize requests for information and outputs, work independently to create elements of a finished product (such as a presentation or article), and communicate regularly and clearly with teammates and senior staff. You will deliver high quality inputs and finished products on time and seek out help when needed.
    Job Responsibilities
    • 50% Research and Knowledge

    • 25% Administrative
    Research & Knowledge (50%)
    • Leading literature reviews and qualitative or quantitative analysis, with senior support.
    • Supporting Energy Communications with input on infographics, other outreach materials.
    • Co-authoring knowledge products (e.g. reports, briefs, data products) with senior guidance and adhering to WRI's quality guidelines.
    • Contributing to research and fundraising proposals.
    • Co-authoring blog posts and other communication documents.
    • Reviewing 1-2 knowledge products written by other WRI researchers and external partners yearly.
    • Providing up to date information on decarbonization, the electricity sector and renewable energy markets as requested by the Energy or other teams
    Communications (25%)
    • Creating communications for influence targets, particularly timely pieces that distill longer-term research and opportunities for action such as the monthly state update and webinar content.
    • Engaging in public speaking on technical issues related to the program's work.
    • Supporting development of program communications, such as web content, narrative development and other influence tools.
    • Proactively network in the community of practice and support continuous improvement of contact lists.
    Administrative (25%)
    • Organizing internal and external meetings, workshops, conferences and other dissemination activities.

    • Proactively liaising with external partners and WRI colleagues across programs and countries.
    • Supporting and / or supervising interns working with the team.
    Job Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in a related field
    • One+ years of relevant, full-time work experience
    • Experience or understanding of energy, electricity policy and renewable energy issues in the US
    • Excellent research skills
    • Excellent data collection and management skills—e.g., through Microsoft Excel or similar
    • Excellent writing skills
    • Strong oral communications skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as part of a team
    • Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner
    • Strong writing, database management, and proofreading skills
    • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to work well and collaborate in a team
    • Strong computer skills
    • Commitment to WRI's mission
    • A successful candidate will demonstrate excellent qualitative and quantitative research and writing skills
    • Prior experience in writing briefs and research products, ability to do interviews and journal based research preferred
