    Organizational Setting
    The Department of Nuclear Safety and Security (NS) formulates and implements the IAEA's nuclear safety and security programme, which encompasses the Agency's activities to protect people and the environment from radiation exposure, and responds to the safety and security related needs of its Member States.
    The Division of Nuclear Security (NSNS) is responsible for coordinating and implementing the IAEA's nuclear security programme to protect against, detect and respond to criminal acts or acts of nuclear terrorism and threats thereof.
    The Information Management Section is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of the mechanisms required to collect, collate and analyse nuclear security related information required for the effective implementation of activities to strengthen the international nuclear security framework. The Section is responsible for maintaining the Incident and Trafficking Database and related information, as well as the system to develop and coordinate the implementation of Integrated Nuclear Security Support Plans. For this purpose, it liaises with other international organizations and Member States to enhance cooperation in and increase the outreach of nuclear security information. The Section is also responsible for implementing arrangements to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
    Main Purpose
    The purpose of the assignment is to provide support on a large project of a new Incident and Trafficking Database (ITDB), which requires special expertise and experience in data analysis (qualitative and quantitative), data quality control and assurance, and technical report writing. The data is related to the IAEA's ITDB which contains approximately 3000 incidents. The work is a key part of a major re-design of the ITDB and the successful migration of the data.
    Functions / Key Results Expected
    • Comprehensively review all incidents in the ITDB to ensure that the information is correctly recorded in terms of its nuclear security attributes;
    • Assess data in terms of its qualitative and quantitative accuracy;
    • Provide advice and proposals for assessing and migrating the data, and make the appropriate changes in the stored data.

    Qualifications, Experience and Language Skills
    • University degree in Business Administration or a related field;
    • Experience in data analysis and management;
    • Experience in processing Excel spread sheets and Records Management.
    • Fluency in written and spoken English. Working knowledge in Russian and / or Spanish desirable. Knowledge of another official language (Arabic, Chinese, French) an asset.
    Remuneration
    The remuneration for this consultancy is a daily fee of up to a maximum of € 150, based on qualifications and experience. In case duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs are provided. Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent.
